For those of you who don’t know, Facebook live is similar to IG live, Snapchat, Periscope or YouTube. I recommend using all of these mediums because, as we know by now, nothing is guaranteed and it’s important to keep your social media diversified like you would your financial investments. Anyway, the beauty about Facebook live and the relatively new video embed feature is the analytics. Facebook really does an amazing job at telling you exactly who your audience is, when they’re online, and where they’re coming from.
reach your entire audience
Because Facebook isn’t as popular as it once was, and trying to compete with Snapchat and YouTube, they reward those who utilize its features like Facebook live. Take advantage of this now before they come out with some new feature that complicates things all over again. Your audience won’t get notified when you post a picture or promote a new blog post but they will absolutely be notified when you’re live and thereafter.
Having your followers get notified when you’re live is great because it allows them to tune in… or not. Either way, people are still seeing your name pop up which is a nice reminder that you’re still around and still killin’ it.
If your followers do tune in, Facebook logs that info and puts them into the “highly engaged” category. So next time you post a regular status or new blog post guess who’s likely to see it? Yep, those Facebook live viewers who tuned in to watch you that one time.
Anyone who is trying to grow a blog or business and doesn’t take advantage of Facebook Live is missing a HUGE opportunity.
P.s. Send me any questions you have in the comments or on Instagram and I’ll answer them when I go live tonight at 8pm!
increase your likes
When you’re live all of your followers are notified by showing up in the feed like the old Facebook days when you actually saw everyone’s posts. Then when someone tunes into your Facebook live their friends are notified by something like “Brittany is watching Not Another Blonde’s live stream”. This sparks the interest of other friends and so on and so forth. It’s a nice domino effect that can ultimately help you grow your Facebook page and increase engagement.
Facebook’s algorithm can be confusing but the goal is always to have super high authentic engagement. This is something that will never change to work against you, meaning there won’t be some algorithm that comes along that says, “Ok, the more comments and likes you get the more it will hurt you”… not gonna’ happen!
create a library of content
Once you develop a nice chunk of videos, Facebook mocks YouTube in the way that it allows you to make “playlists” and categorize your videos into “fashion” “beauty” “live Q&A” and whatever other videos you have. This is a great way for Facebook fans and new visitors to see what you’re all about before they hit that “like” button. In fact, because videos are so personal, more people are likely to like your page when you have them.
So, in addition to any regular videos you upload, your Facebook live videos can add to your content repertoire. You can then share any Facebook live session on YouTube. An even better idea would be to cut out the best gems from your Facebook live videos and make a mashup of “the best of” or another mini informative/inspiring movie, like “5 fashion tips”.
monitor progress & adjust
Facebook has always had analytics but now they’re the best they’ve ever been so it’d be silly not to look at them and see what’s working and what’s not. You have a FREE tool right in front of you that basically tells you everything you need to know about what to post, when, how often, who you’re reaching, and everything in between.
It’s a matter of taking the time to actually read the results and understand how to use them to benefit you next time. A lot of bloggers pump out content, not just on Facebook, and don’t take the time to track their results!
I’m no analytics expert but I know being aware of trends and adjusting to what’s going on in the digital world is super important. There is no such thing as failure, but there are results that are better than others, so start keeping track of yours with Facebook live.
Have you used Facebook Live? Tell me about it in the comments!
