For the first week Instagram stories were dominating the social media front but now Snapchat is back and with some awesome new filters! I can’t get enough of those voice changers (have you seen my Snaps lately? un: notanothrblonde).
So as time goes on, I think it’s wise to use both platforms, which means you’ll need to keep building your content and growing your following, which is not the easiest on Snapchat. But right before Insta stories was released, Snapchat created a way to actually share Snapchat profiles with other users and I’m going to take you step-by-step on how to do that today.
step 1: get your followers to share your snap info.
This is probably the trickiest step of the whole process. Getting people to take action is always challenging, but not impossible when you’re using the right strategy.
So you can start by simply asking your followers to share your Snapchat profile with the people who they think could benefit from what you have to offer. If that doesn’t work, which it may not, then you can offer an incentive.
Always remember that people are more likely to do something when it benefits them or adds value to their lives.
This can be in the form of a giveaway, shoutout, or special collaboration. For example, if you share my Snap info. with your followers, I give away a copy of my Brand Collab Spreadsheet.
step 2: hold your finger on the story until the profile appears
Once you’ve figured out what profile you want to share, you just hold your finger over the person’s Snapchat story and a little white box will pop up. There are a number of actions you can take but for now, we just want to share the profile.
step 3: click the blue arrow
When you’re ready to share you hit the blue arrow icon on the bottom right, next to the camera icon. (There are only 3 icons on the bottom so the blue arrow is the last one… pretty simple.)
Then you’ll be taken to the “Send To…” page where you can select as many people to share with all the people you follow. The bummer here is that you can’t share profiles with your followers but only the people you follow, which is fine. You’d be able to reach more people if you could share with both, but hey, we’ll take what we can get.
Once you share the person’s Snap info. you’ll be able to see who opened, who didn’t, and whose Snap is pending. Usually, big bloggers have their Snapchat settings to approve Snaps they receive or else they’d get so many. In that case, your Snap you sent to them will forever be pending, but that’s ok. You want to focus on having your followers share with their friends not necessarily other bloggers.

step 4 (optional): have a friend share your profile with you
When you have a friend share your own profile with you, you can then send your profile to the people you follow that might not follow you back. Again, you’ll be able to see who opened it and who didn’t.
I actually did this myself and had quite a few “big time bloggers” add me back. It’s a nice little brand awareness bonus.
Because these big bloggers have so much pull in the community if they do add you by chance, watch some of your Snaps and like what they see, they’re going to then share it with their own Snap followers. Whether something is good or bad, you want to tell alllll your friends about it. That’s not a secret blogging tip, that’s just human behavior!
