Well, it’s been almost a decade and I’m finally sharing my blog story…
I tend to shy away from the more personal posts because, well they’re personal! And to be honest Not Another Blonde wasn’t made to be about me, it was made to be about you! I always want to make sure my content brings you as much value as possible and even though I’m not super comfortable sharing this side of myself, I think it could be valuable to someone looking to start a blog or feeling defeated in their blog journey so here we go…
I changed schools 3 times
I was (and still am) an only child, raised by a single mom, was bullied, and attended 3 different schools before college.
Ugh. Saying that all out loud still triggers me today.
And for a while I used that as an excuse. An excuse for why things didn’t go my way. An excuse for why I would never be anything more than I was. An excuse for any bad decisions I made or the pain I caused other people…
When I was stuck in this story of lack – I’ll never have THAT because I don’t have THIS or I’ll never do THAT because of THIS, nothing changed. I was miserable.
Before Not Another Blonde I had 2 other blogs that failed which now I’m convinced was because of my lack mentality. Half the battle of success is getting into a state of thinking you’re worthy and unstoppable, and that anything is possible… because it is!
I didn’t have a lot of money
I finally felt like I was coming into my own at college but after my internship had ended I had no future plans, so I moved to the beach with #auntgail for a change of scenery. (If you watch my IG Stories you should be very familiar with #auntgail.)
Anyway, with no job and no foreseeable opportunities, I started to take my blog seriously. I didn’t know what was going to happen but I knew I wanted to give this whole blogging thing a fighting chance while I had the time to try.
So, to clarify, I had no job which meant no money, no friends, and no plan. Eventually I ended up sharing a room with someone I butt heads with who was 7 years younger than me so we were at very different stages in our lives. It was a very confusing and chaotic time in my life but one thing that never wavered was my perseverance for my blog.
I was determined, but had every excuse for why I couldn’t be successful or why I wasn’t able to create content. No job, no money, no friends, no plan, and less than ideal circumstances are 5 reasons to give up, but they’re also 5 reasons to keep going… so I did.
I used my blog as a way for me to connect to people, make friends, share my story, and create a job for myself; but I kept running into the same problem of ‘How do I do it?’
It was great that I wanted to start fresh and use my blog as an escape route but I couldn’t find people who were willing to listen, engage, and support my cause.
I had no connections
So to recap, I thought I had to have lots of friends, money, and connections to ever be able to blog full-time. But I didn’t have any of those things.
In fact, I got crippling anxiety every time I attempted to attend an influencer event to the point where I couldn’t eat until it was over. At the events where you would make connections you “need” to make it as a blogger, I’d be in a corner somewhere on my phone…
Now… I still don’t have a ton of powerful connections or friends (aside from all of you!), and I don’t have unlimited disposable income (yet) but I’m getting paid to do what I love. I’ve created a life I’ve always wanted. I’m able to do what I want when I want and most importantly I’m able to help others do the same through my story.

My blog story is just 1 of the reasons why I created The Blogger Blueprint. I needed a step-by-step strategy for what I had to do to get to where I wanted to go.
The Blueprint is really about rewriting your story, removing whatever is blocking you, and getting to your true purpose while learning the tools to do so.
If your only goal is to sit front row at fashion week, The Blogger Blueprint isn’t for you. But if you’re looking to reach the next level in your blogging career, if you’re looking to save time, if you’re looking to work with your favorite brands, and if you’re looking to build a sustainable, successful blog and online business then The Blogger Blueprint is everything you could ever want and more.
So what’s your blog story? I’d love to hear anything you’re willing to share with me in the comments below.
xx
