Meet My Boyfriend & Take a Peek into My Love Life

I wanted to give you guys a formal introduction to my other (certainly not better) half, Pat, aka Patricio aka Patreezus aka Boogs because his birthday is on Sunday and we’ve only been dating for 3 years so it’s about time.

Patricio is most commonly recognized from me making fun of him in some way, shape, or form via Snapchat (un: notanothrblonde). Since he’s going to school for engineering, his appearances have been far and few in between lately due to his “extremely difficult workload”.

If you ask him, he’d say his major is the hardest in the world and he spends 40 hours a week studying and he works so hard and no one understands; cue eye roll. Let’s just say we have a lot of “discussions” about working hard and that I actually do know what it’s like. #boybye

What were we talking about again? Oh yeah, how great Patricio is…

In all seriousness, he is one of the best people I’ve ever met. It took me a whole 25 years to find someone who hit all the marks for me and I consider myself very lucky to have found him so early on. Yes, 25 is still YOUNG people and you’re lucky if you find “the one” then.

Anyway, here’s our story in a nutshell…

how I met my boyfriend

I’m from Pennsylvania but I’ve always been extremely close with my cousin in South Jersey so I would spend a week there every summer since I was a baby. As I got older, 1 week turned to 2, 3, and eventually I just spent my whole summer there and worked at my Aunt’s store.

Then when I graduated college I decided to move to South Jersey full-time. So over the course of, I don’t know, my whole life, my cousin’s friends became my friends and that’s how I first met Patricio.

We had run in the same circle of friends but we never talked to each other. I knew who he was though and he knew of me as “Lacey’s cousin”. To be honest I thought he was this obnoxious party animal and I really wanted no parts of that.

So fast forward to one night at Lacey’s house, we decide to order pizza. And guess who delivers it?

Yep, sweet little Patricio. So I open the door and finally formally introduce myself and I have no idea how it started but we ended up talking and laughing hysterically for like 20 minutes.

Then he leaves, I close the door, look at Lacey and say “I’m going to date him. I love him!”. That same night he messages me on Facebook, we go on a date the following Saturday, and the rest is history.

Patricio and I have a very unique relationship. We overshare, (it’s actually pretty gross how open we are), we make fun of each other, and we talk in silly voices 80% of the time, all of which are things that would normally turn you off from another person but not us.

We speak each other’s love language and we’re respectful of the other’s feelings (even when we’re arguing).

We compliment each other.

Patricio is a quiet, spontaneous risk taker and I’m a strongly opinionated, play-it-safe kinda girl with a touch of OCD, (play it safe in that I won’t go in the ocean past my waist and Pat’s a risk taker in that he goes surfing during hurricanes.)

We also read each other’s minds and say the exact same thing at the same time and we have the same political and religious views, (another biggie in this day and age).

I wish I could say our relationship evolved into this deep rooted thing over time but it was actually like this from day one, which in my opinion makes it so special. Word to the wise: if you don’t mesh with your partner right off the bat, then you will never mesh with that person, so stop wasting each other’s time.

Anyway, Patricio goes above and beyond in our relationship and I’m extremely grateful for him.

From the minute we started talking we had the same ideals and goals. We both strive for success every day; him with school and me with my blog and we refuse to settle for anything less.

We’re both driven and hard working and have the same spiritual understanding of life. It’s hard to describe, but getting “it” and being on the same page with your significant other on all accounts is HUGE.

We understand that our mindset determines much of the outcome of our lives and that doing the right thing is always the right thing. Actually, since we’re being honest, Patricio is much more compassionate towards other people and he doesn’t let little things bother him as much as I do, which is why we make the perfect team.

Our plans for the future are, well, non-existent. We definitely want to be bi-coastal because we both love California and we want to do a lot of traveling, who doesn’t?

We’re in no rush to get married or have kids though, so don’t expect any corny engagement photos or baby bumps any time soon. But if I had to take engagement photos, there’s no one I’d rather prance around on a beach, fake smiling with than my little Boogs.
