How to | Dress up Denim Shorts

So, I recently went to yet another graduation party and this time I had no idea what the dress code was but I knew it was like 90 degrees and homegirl was not about to sweat in a sundress so I opted to figure out how to dress up denim shorts. Once I told my mom I was wearing denim shorts she immediately said it wasn’t dressy enough, I begged to differ and came downstairs in this amazingly effortless graduation party getup.

Between you and me these are my only pair of denim cutoffs from H&M and they are the best shorts I own. I’m currently on the hunt for others, so if you know where I can get more comment below!

Anyway I dressed up the denim by pairing it with a silk button down, which is definitely on my must-have wardrobe essential list, (full list here). I also threw on some dressy sandals, also from H&M that I got so long ago and I’m so glad they’re still in style. I love the snakeskin detail and beige and black tones. You know all about the bag already I wear it constantly. This look is the perfect mix between comfy/casual and chic, which is exactly what I was going for.
