Someone told me something very interesting today… “I’m afraid if something life altering happened to you, you wouldn’t recover from it. When I think about that, it makes me very sad”. Really? Pretty sure hearing you say that to me makes me more sad than it makes you.
Clearly that really resonated with me. I’m still not even sure how to take it. Was this person judging me? Does this mean I’m not a fighter? If I was knocked down by something would I really not get back up?
Absolutely not. Yes, I may have been judged, but we’re all guilty of that at some point in our lives.
I feel that one of the biggest lessons we learn is how to bounce back from criticism. Can you imagine what scrutiny celebrities have to battle on a regular basis? They’re just trying to do what they love just like the rest of us.
The truth is, peope are always going to criticize and have their opinions about you, what you do, who you hang with, what you eat, yada yada yada. And you’re never going to please everyone. So with that in mind, the least you can do is please yourself.
So what if you make the bed every morning? Who cares if you don’t eat meat? And you may never want to get a tattoo or sky dive, but that’s what makes you you. And you don’t need anyone’s approval except your own.
Life can be really hard sometimes and you are going to encounter some crappy situations, but don’t give up. That’s what they want. That’s not what you want.
Don’t let the limiting thoughts of others limit you from living the life of your dreams. Keep pushing. You may not be Bethany Hamilton, but you’re ::insert first name:: motherfreakin’ ::last name:: and you, my friend, are just as awesome. Seriously, you really are.
Soooooo…
Tell me 3 awesome things about yourself in the comments below… go!
xx
