I really really really did not want to be one of those bloggers who did a roundup of her favorite outfits from 2016. Gag. Could I be any more cliche? But here I am… In my defense, this isn’t really a “roundup” of my most “liked” from 2016 but more like my recent faves that I happened to wear at the end of 2016. How convenient right?
Anyway, I did something a little different in the description of each look. I gave some background of the outfit, (why I like it, what was happening that day) plus an easy styling tip if you want to try the look on your own. Let me know what you guys think and if you want more style posts in this layout!
Background: I am so obsessed with this top from Zara that I’m going to order it in the other two colors, HERE and HERE. It fits like a glove, or in my case, a really loose mitten. What can I say, I like oversized clothes?
Style tip: Anytime I am wearing something oversized (which is like, every day), I make sure I wear a tighter fitting pant, like these grey jeans from Topshop. I also prefer a boot that has a wider opening at the top because it gives the illusion your leg is slimmer.
Background: I actually was running late this day and didn’t know what to wear and threw this outfit together at the last minute. I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. I think the hair really makes it. It’s amazing what a simple detail like a hairstyle can make all the difference.
Style tip: The once exception when I’ll wear a loose top and loose bottom is when the top is a crop top. Otherwise, you just look like you’re swimming in your outfit.
P.s. Don’t be fooled, I’m freezing my a$$ off here, I think it was 18 degrees or something.
Background: This is yet another outfit where I have the exact items in another color. I have the sweater in grey and the pants in black. When you find a look that works you don’t pass up the opportunity to have it in multiple colors! The pants were/still on sale at the crazy Zara sale I’ve been Snapping about lately, down from $40 to $20.
Style tip: Since my outfit is slightly oversized but not as slouchy as I usually wear, a sleek low bun makes my look polished versus sloppy. You can also add an interesting shoe to keep the outfit from being a total bore if you only wear neutral colors like me.
Background: This was another one of my recent outfits I was pleasantly surprised with. I usually won’t wear anything but my “office shoes” to work, but this day I chose to wear the boots I get complimented on the most and it turned out pretty good!
Style tip: I’m wearing two very different patterns here but because they’re both subtle, it works. Don’t be afraid to accessorize with patterns and wear a few at the same time. Adding a patterned scarf makes an outfit I wear at least once a week, look completely different.
