Words can’t express the heartbreak I feel for Dr. Wayne Dyer’s passing. Dr. Dyer was one of the first spiritual teachers I discovered who completely transformed my life, not to mention millions of other people’s. His way of life is unlike anyone I know: a completely positive outlook no matter the circumstances. He never feared death and any roadblocks were knocked down by his unwavering faith in the Uni-verse. In fact, he’s the one who taught me the power of synchronicity. You can see more of his inspirational work here, here, and here but for now I’d like to share his greatest life changing advice…
“Never put anything into your imagination you don’t want materialized.”
What we think about we bring about. The bad thoughts you have, you bring to life and just the same you are powerful enough to have the good thoughts come to life, too. Ever start your morning rough with a spill, then traffic, then something else? It’s no coincidence, it’s The Law of Attraction.
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
This one can be interpreted different ways but I like to think of it as when your outlook on life changes and your mental processing system is rebooted to an entirely new way of thinking, the things that once seemed so important aren’t. Your priorities change. Instead of gossiping you journal. Instead of judging, you’re loving. You don’t pay attention to the petty stuff anymore, what matters is you being the best version of you you can possibly be and giving the people around you your full presence. You focus less on what other people are doing and more of what you’re doing.
“Don’t ignore that calling inside of you. Don’t ignore the part of you that says you came here to create something powerful.”
Each and every one of us has a purpose. As cliche as it sounds, we are all here to make magic happen. Some people find that in the form of a teacher, caregiver, lawyer, parent, etc. That one thing that really makes your heart sing, that’s why you’re here. If you’re being called to do something, DO IT!
“You cannot be lonely if you like the person you’re alone with.”
Love yourself and you will never have to worry about being loved.
“How people treat you is their karma, how you react is yours.”
This is one of my favorites! We so quickly want to react when someone wrongs us. We want revenge and we want it now, but the best revenge comes in the form of happiness. When we react with a vengeance, we’re giving our power away. The Universe will take care of those sucky people, it’s your job to take care of you.
“I cannot always control what goes on outside, but I can always control what goes on inside.”
Another goodie. The only person you can control is yourself. You’re powerless over what happens around you. The only thing you can change about what happens are your feelings about it.
“Don’t die with your music still inside you. Listen to your intuitive inner voice and find what passion stirs your soul.”
We all have something we want to say, do, create, or explore. Don’t let that passion pass you by. You don’t want to grow old full of regret.
Just recapping Wayne Dyer’s wisdom breaks my heart, but brings me back to a loving state. It’s easy to fall of track when you’re not where you think you ought to be, but the best place to be is right here, right now. Rest in peace Dr. Dyer.
