After taking a little hiatus due to Thanksgiving and the amazing Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, we’re back with the final week of our series, Branding 101: Best Ways to Brand Yourself. If you haven’t been following along for our Branding 101 series, that’s actually perfect because this post is a great round up/reminder of the key components for successful branding, (scroll to bottom for full series).

Week 4 (this week): Best Ways to Brand Yourself
capitalize on your strengths
Before you even begin to think about the best ways to brand yourself, it’s important you’re able to recognize your strengths. That is how you will add massive value to your potential customers/clients. If you don’t know your strengths and abilities how can you expect anyone to trust and invest in you?
The last thing you want to do is get into motivational speaking, yet be a terrible public speaker. What are you most recognized for? What are you really really good at?
know your audience
This is HUGE and one of the best ways to brand yourself. Marie Forleo says, “If you’re talkin’ to everyone, you’re talkin’ to no one”. Pick a super niche market to target and become a master of your field, (more on that here).
You don’t want to create a HIIT, (high-intensity interval training), fitness app and then target elderly women. Instead, you could create a LISS, (low-intensity steady state), a fitness program that targets elderly women. Get the point?
study the pros
In Mastin Kipp’s new book, The Daily Love, he says something along the lines of, “Don’t look at the master’s finger, look at what the master is pointing to”. This means instead of focussing so intently on what the master is telling you to do, look at what he actually is doing. Study his communication, marketing tactics, website design/layout, etc. If you want what someone else has, do what they do.
network as much as possible
Networking is the key to any success in life. No one is “self-made” despite their attempt at convincing us otherwise. We all need help at some point or another in our careers so the easiest and best way to brand yourself is through networking. This way you’re not cold-emailing successful strangers who likely won’t give you the time of day.
Your success in branding yourself depends on building and maintaining meaningful professional relationships.
track your results
How will you be able to know what’s working and what’s not? By tracking your results! This is a huge and underrated factor in determining your business’s success. It’s like if you keep doing the same thing and expecting different results… insanity!
I personally love to test things like when I post on social media and just what I post on here in general. Some things are bigger hits than others, so you really want to produce more of the good stuff and eliminate the rest. You’ll save yourself a ton of time and effort through tracking your results.
Have you tried these techniques? What are some of your best ways to brand yourself? Tell me in the comments below!
