Every minute of every day is the perfect opportunity for anyone anywhere. Even in the most remote locations with the most remote resources, there is an opportunity to be had and a chance to make your life whatever you want it to be. No matter what hardships you’ve endured or what your current situation is you can always, always change it… especially in America.
Running a blog or business in the digital space especially puts us at an advantage because it’s the direction our world is headed. I mean there are so many things you can do as a blogger right now! So many! (Yes, I’m screaming.)
It’s crazy to me that bloggers are still complaining that it’s hard, they don’t have enough time, or they don’t have the money. Guess what? Success is hard. Building anything worth having from the ground up is freakin’ hard. And another thing, no one has time, but they make the time. Making time means making sacrifices and that’s just the way life goes.
Also, you don’t need money to blog, I mean having money is always a bonus but in order to succeed as a blogger in 2017 you don’t need a buttload of money if any at all. Period. So if you’re someone who’s just as tired of the excuses as I am, let’s take a look at how 2017 has the biggest opportunities to date for bloggers…
free access to unlimited resources
You can learn any skill, attend any event, and get your product/service to reach tons of people because of the abundance of resources available online. There is the perfect course, book, retreat, blog, and app for every single person on this planet. Seriously.
I really feel the days of going to college are slowly going to disappear. Why? Because you can learn the exact skills you need for what you want to do for half the price if not for FREE! I’m living proof. I learned this whole blogging thing, by myself, from the unlimited resources online, with barely any money.
For example, there are classes (free and paid) you can take to learn how to design a blog. You can watch a tutorial on YouTube to learn how to edit Instagram photos. You download free guides for beginner bloggers (cough cough, download my guides!). You can get as specific or as general as you want and you’ll still be able to find what you’re looking for, I promise.
But what if you “literally have no time to watch a YouTube video or read a book”. Well lucky for you most video and written content is converted to audio so you can “literally” listen while you do other things. Gary Vee’s keynote speeches and Girlboss radio are my favorite things to listen to during my commute.
you can advertise on a budget
Social media is a one stop shop and can turn you into an overnight celebrity. You can build brand awareness, collaborate, reach new audiences, promote your blog, make announcements, and sell things all through social media. Who knew?
You can literally reach and communicate with anyone at any time anywhere in the world. It’s pretty cool. Early bloggers certainly didn’t have this advantage like we do now. Before you were limited with who you could reach and when you’d reach them. You would hope that the right person would stumble upon your blog.
Now, you can tag the brands you want to work with, DM the people you want to talk to, and use specific hashtags to get noticed. Social media today is like word of mouth on a much, much larger scale. If you’re a blogger and social media isn’t your best friend already, you better get close real quick if you want to survive in this market.
you can sell to anyone in the world
Like I mentioned above, you can reach anyone at any time in any place. And if you can reach them, you have the potential to sell to them.
Back in the day (aka 5-10 years ago), if you wanted to sell something it had to be done in a physical store. Not anymore. Today, bloggers are capitalizing on this phenomenon via Etsy, Tictail, eBay, Shopify, and Poshmark.
There are no limits to who your product or service can reach online. By 2020 there will be 5.2 billion people online, 5.2 billion people! How amazing is that?! And with the right strategy and a LOT of hard work you could reach a good portion of them.
Not to mention because of tools like Facebook ads, Adsense, and Instagram ads you can put your blog/product in front of people who normally wouldn’t see it. As long as someone has access to the internet and a credit card they can be a potential customer of yours and that’s super powerful for a blogger.
you can capitalize on your unique talents
Because of sites like Etsy and Tictail the cool new thing to do is buy products that are completely one of a kind and handcrafted by some super hip artist. Less and less people are going to big chain stores to buy clothes, furniture, and decorations.
Our generation wants things that tell a story. We don’t want something that has been mass produced. We want to stand out. We want to be different. We want stuff from stores that people have never heard of. We don’t even want to listen to the same music as everybody else. So if you’re an artist, designer, baker, inventor, blogger, musician, etc. now is YOUR time to hit the ground running with your idea. Given that it’s a solid idea, consumers will eat it up.
The opportunities are only going to get bigger and better. This also means that the longer you wait to get your stuff out into the world, the more difficult it will be to stand out (because there’s so much already out there). So your best bet is to ACT NOW. Take the leap and take advantage of all the amazing opportunities in front of you now, not tomorrow, not later this week, but right now!

03/14/2017 at 5:28 pmGreat post as always, Britt! I want to stress out the importance of working hard and stop making excuses. On the one hand, I’m tired of those who think that blogging is so easy, that it’s just taking pretty pictures… I’d like them to see all that goes behind the scenes. I’m sure they couldn’t handle it.
On the other hand, I can’t stand those who don’t commit to things and quit because success should have already knocked on their doors. Fighting for what you want is hard! You have to be ready for it. And I’m glad it’s hard because when you get something, your satisfaction is a million times higher. Also, if you really want something, even if it’s hard work you should be enjoying the process. Otherwise you are probably doing it for the wrong reasons.
Phew, I feel like I’m venting when I comment on you posts. I end up writing such long comments!
