For years, you would look to magazines for fashion inspo and editors would be the ones calling the shots – dictating to us what’s in and what’s out. And now, gone are the days where the only people who lace the pages are celebrities.
I am proud to report because bloggers have their chic together, fashion is now decided by what we say it is, not anyone else. It’s amazing to me to see real girls wearing real trends in real life. I mean, what could be better, right?
So what you’re about to read is my take on the trends I and every other blogger picked up this summer.
Tassel earrings
It took me a while to hop on the bandwagon but I finally caved and got not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 pairs of tassel earrings. #sorrynotsorry
Are they a trend? Maybe. But they’re a trend I’m obsessed with so I’ve justified the $10 I’ve invested in them (sarcasm, I don’t think $10 is a lot to splurge on a trend). Speaking of, they are one of the cheapest trends right now which makes me love them even more.
Tassel earrings are great for summer and fun to pair with contrasting colors like I did above with my yellow mules. Other fun color combos include navy blue and fuchsia, green and yellow, red and black, and teal and fuchsia.
Gingham
I can’t help but think of the song Gangnam Style every time I see gingham.
Anyway there was/is gingham everywhere: bathing suits, jumpsuits, overalls, tops, pants, co-ords. If you can think it, someone has definitely worn it.
Despite the pattern, it’s surprisingly flattering on all body types. I’ve yet to see a gingham I didn’t like.
Ruffles
I’m not a girly girl, like at all. But I could’ve had you fooled by the amount of ruffles I’ve worn this summer/will continue to wear into fall. I’m obsessing over ruffles.
I especially love the exaggerated ruffles that Zara seems to be pumping out… and so does every other blogger. The bigger the better in my opinion.
Depending on the color, ruffles can really make a statement without being too obnoxious which is why I stick to blacks and whites. You do have to be careful because too many ruffles, no matter what color, you could end up looking like William Shakespeare. But for the most part, they’re awesome and if you’re a blogger you should 100% get on the ruffle train.
Off the shoulder
Off the shoulder is so sexy and timeless. It’s trendy now but it’s really always in style. It’s the perfect amount of sex appeal where you don’t look like a total slore and leaves much to the imagination.
It honestly reminds me of the Caribbean. Maybe if I wear it enough someone will send me there. A girl can dream…
What’s been your favorite fashion trend this summer? I’m really loving tassel earrings.
xx

08/14/2017 at 12:22 pmI also LOVE tassel earrings! I actually just purchased the same pair in different colors (+ I NEVER do that, lol). I definitely plan on styling them into Fall, + like you said, I love that they are the cheapest trend to try.

08/15/2017 at 6:26 amAm I weird for not being a huge fan of trends? There are some that I follow but for the most part I tend to get sick of things I see everyone wearing. I usually buy timeless pieces even though that could make my style a little “boring” 😉
